At Long Last! The Story Can Be Told! TRANSCAT #9!!!

Gosh, it's been awhile since there's been any officially released NEW TransCat content, hasn't it? March of 2017 was when issue #8 came out. I knew I was going on hiatus back then and had the forethought to print on the final page of that book "TransCat will return in 2018" and that was technically correct, what with the release of the graphic novel, but the real return of TransCat, her first appearance in a NEW adventure since then won't be until the 4th of January 2019, so in a way, i couldn't meet my own deadline. Sorry guys :P

All the same, I am hyped for this release! This story is one I've been wanting to tell in TransCat for a long time, since the series began, actually. I just struggled with finding a place in the timeline to place it. But here we are! In this issue, TransCat gets shrunk down to a microscopic size, and goes inside a human cell where she meets an estrogen molecule named Esther, and they go on a wacky, miniature adventure, learning about all the various ways your body changes when you go on hormone therapy, and the ways that transgenderism manifests in the body before you're even born! :O

It'll be a real heartfelt knee-slapper!

Many of my fans who got a chance to read the rough draft of it told me they thought it was so good that it should have been the FIRST issue. I suppose I see where they're coming from, but the first issue of Transcat had to be the first issue for reasons. It's difficult to imagine that story unfolding any other way. Like i said, I WANTED it to be an episode from the very beginning, but it had to come together this way, as issue #9, nothing else woulda worked :P

(PS: If you wanna be one of the lucky few who gets to read my rough drafts of comics before release, consider checking out my PATREON PAGE!)

Let me speak briefly about the inspiration for this episode. I have before, on various platforms, but never here, I don't think. So the long and short of it is, when i was in 10th grade, my science class made us watch this hilariously terrible educational film that was SUPPOSED to teach us about the parts of the cell. In it, a teenage schoolkid was knocked unconscious in science class, and DREAMED he was small enough to see it all close up and first hand. I know, violent, right? The whole affair was so horribly acted and so filled to the brim with the cheesiest special effects that it couldn't help but become the source of endless inside jokes between me and my classmates. The most prominent of which was the word "TWO???", shouted in an exaggerated question. This occurs when our main character discovers that there are indeed TWO endoplasmic reticulums in the cell. See? I guess that shitty video DID teach me something. I will NEVER forget that fact now!
I already parodied "TWO???" in one of my past issues, but this issue is kind of a parody of the whole IDEA of that video, and thins like it, including Magic Schoolbus, Fantastic Voyage, Innerspace, and that one episode of Muppet Babies...

Anyway, I'm excited as hell. there will be a limited run that will debut at Sac-Anime, and then a regular run will appear for sale on my website shortly after, around the 7th of January.

Also of note! I've reached my final 25 copies of the first run of issue #8, the one with the CD. I wound up burning more discs for it (because the initial run, I was about 25 short, and I knew it would take me awhile to sell all the ones that DID have CDs already so i kinda slept on burning more) but i finally did it last night and what I got were some cool coloured discs instead of the standard silver ones, so now i guess these remaining 25 are like collector's items now, or something (PROTIP: The Yellow CD is the rarest, if you get the yellow CD it means you're a TransCat Superfan!) These little babies are currently available at my SHOP and will also be put out into circulation this January at the convention, so eat it up now while you can, suckas!

Speaking of conventions, Transcat is doing her first out-of-state con this spring! Yes, the fine folk at ClexaCon in Las Vegas. It'll be a celebration of women and queer people in media, and TransCat's both, so her being there will be hella poignant! My dear friend Alexa, whom I first met at Gaymer X many years ago turned me on to it. It'll be an ol' fashioned con slumber party! I'll be rooming with her, her wife, and couple of her wife's friends, and my table buddy Danielle might be coming too. I honestly can't wait, it's gonna be a blast.

In other news, i recently had my big rebranding of the TransCat Mailing List! It was a big success but I need it to be a BIGGER SUCCESS! If you like getting random free shit in the mail, drop me a line at transcatcomics@gmail.com with a mailing address. i do holiday cards and random drawings for free comics and shit. i do it because I LOVE YOU!

Coming up next will be New Years cards! Try and get 'em in before the 25th and I'll have 'em sent out right after Chrimbo!

Thanks for stoppin' by and have a merry what the fuck ever <3 div="">
