TransCat Comics by Knave Murdok: PATREON EXCLUSIVE! TransCat Issue 10: Dance Dance Revelation (Pencil Draft)

It's the end of February, my dear ones, and you that means I've completed yet another Patreon Exclusive comic, which is all up and available for viewing to all my $5+ Patrons. This month it's the pencil edition of TransCat #10: Dance Dance Revelation. I uploaded it a page a day, each page accompanied by a short little blog about what was going on in my head while doing each page, etc.

But for the purpose of enticing any NON-patrons into my wicked clutches, I'll give ya a ... maybe a MEDIUM sized blog right now! Detailing what the heck is even goin' on this this here book!
So if you remember from the last few issues, there's been this plot thread going that Knave (Secret Identity: TransCat) is taking her entrance exam for a place called Middle College! apart from that, she needs to pass her Science final exam or else risk failing the whole class, disqualifying her from even being in the running for Middle College!

Middle college is a thing that I have not REALLY gotten into explaining what the fuck it even is in this world. Merely hinted at it's existence. In the REAL world, middle College was a college prep program and an alternative education venue, aimed at kids who either didn't fit the regular high school mold, or were vying to get an early jump start on racking up college credits. It's a great program, even though it did somewhat attract the reputation for being a place that fuckups go when they can't cut it in regular school. That stereotype comes from somewhere, but it couldn't be farther from the truth.

I'm thinking i'll probably make the TransCat version of Middle College something very similar, but maybe play up the "rack up college credits" aspect of it for plot reasons. The great part of Middle College is that it was actually held on the local city college campus, so once Knave gets accepted, it will serve as a terrific change of venue moment for the series. Although, we're gonna get that first and foremost from the Summer Vacation arc that's coming up shortly. ;-)

So the beginning of the plot revolves around TransCat having to take these tests, and in the process, discovering that there's more to the Cat Hat's powers than she initially thought. It doesn't just make her a better fighter, it makes her better at almost everything! Including taking exams!

The Second part of the plot revolves around PROM NIGHT! Everyone is excited basically except for TransCat, who is very must still not over having lost her chance to rekindle with Chloie. She's feeling rudderless in her romantic life and the LAST thing she wants to do is surround herself with happy people in love. But in a tragic twist of fate, TransCat's friend Ron got a date to the prom with Kayla, and desperately needs a wingman. TransCat to the rescue again, it seems!

HOWEVER! Upon arriving at Prom, TransCat discovers two very important things! Number one: the place is SWARMING with lizard cops! Number two, and possibly most importantly, Abby is BY HERSELF! Her boyfriend Mark is somewhere goofing off with his friends, while poor Abby sits alone on the bleachers. TransCat's been crushing on Abby for years, but has never had the courage, or opportunity, to make a move on her. Despite the fact she's knows it's wrong, TransCat seizes THIS opportunity.

It goes well! Maybe even a little TOO well. Better than Knave was expecting, to be honest. She and Abby seems to really be hitting it off, despite the fact they didn't exactly have a long history of friendship behind them before tonight. It's almost as if Abby wants something from Knave, but what? What could it possibly be?

Before Knave knows it, and before she can ask too many questions, she and Abby are slow dancing together to one of Knave's favourite songs. It's total bliss. Is this what moving on feels like? Can it be possible now that Knave can let go of that past heartbreak, with the promise of something new, and better awaiting her? It almost seems to good to be true, doesn't it?
